iPhone - Next Generation!

I would like to think most people are Mac-Fan-Boys/Girls, sadly this is not always the case. However, if you haven't heard the buzz regarding the new iPhone "prototype" which was mysteriously "found" after being "left" at a bar in Redwood City, California. Here is a quick revision: http://gizmodo.com/5520438/how-apple-lost-the-next-iphone

I am (as always) kinda skeptical about this.

At first I was excited to hear the news - wow a new iPhone model has been discovered, nice! After seeing images of the phone I was a little disappointed. It didn't look like an iPhone. It was kinda Droid-like. Square. No rounded Apple corners.

Hmmm - I call internet hoax!

But many bloggers and like-minded Mac-Fans have been covering this story. Could this be the real deal? I mean the person who "lost" this phone has a name: Gray Powell. He has a job: Apple Software Engineer working on the iPhone Baseband Software. He left a digital trail. This has to be an honest mistake, right?

This is so un-Apple. Apple doesn't lose stuff. Apple relies on Steve Jobs in his standard blue 501 jeans and black polo-neck sweater on a stage revealing the new Apple product. This is so Un-Apple - it must clearly be an Apple guerrilla marketing ploy!

What's your take on this? Too soon to call, or an open & shut case?
